The Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations are the UK interpretation of the European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste, which first came into force in 1994. It effects companies who handle packaging in the UK.

The Waste Battery and Accumulator Regulations 2009 came into force in May 2009 and implemented the provisions made for waste batteries in the European Union Directive 2006/66/EC. It effects companies which place batteries on the UK market.
